Retail Motor Industry Standards and Certification (RMISC), a subsidiary of the RMI, announces the launch of the RI-MARK logo following its UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) approval. Stuart James, RMI Director commented, "We are pleased with the positive response to our PAS125 accreditation service and our new logo allows accredited companies to demonstrate their compliance by displaying the RI-MARK that will become recognised as the definitive certification mark in the automotive industry.

Italian sports car manufacturer Maserati has homologated Continental’s ContiSportContact 5 P for the new Quattroporte. This is the first approval the German tyre maker has ever received from Maserati, and the tyre will be supplied in six 19 to 21-inch sizes in line with equipment specifications and engine size. The tyres built specially for the Quattroporte will be marked with the letters “MGT” to avoid confusion with other tyres from the same series.

The tyre manufacturer will supply wider 245/40R19 sizes on the front and 285/35R19 on the rear with a “tailor-made” compound. The tyre will respond to the V6 344-horsepower coupe’s cornering, sporty handling and power, Bridgestone says.

Million-milestone for Michelin retreading franchise

US-based Michelin Retread Technologies (MRT) retreader Allied Oil & Tire Company has reached the million-mark. The company, which is located in Omaha, Nebraska, opened the doors of its MRT plant in 1998, and upon celebrating the retreading of its one millionth commercial vehicle tyre plant manager Don Roberts commented that “this milestone speaks volumes about our commitment to customer satisfaction and producing industry-leading retreads.”

Bridgestone Corporation reports it is supplying its Turanza T001 as standard equipment for the new Mazda 6 (also known as the Atenza) in a number of markets. The Turanza T001 is being supplied in sizes 225/55R17 97V and 225/45R19 92W. In announcing the OEM supply deal on 20 November, Bridgestone commented that the Turanza brand offers “an excellent blend of performance and comfort.” In addition, the tyre maker says the Turanza T001 provides “excellent traction in both wet and dry - features that are well-suited for the performance of the new Mazda Atenza/Mazda 6.”

The Sun range of roller brake testers cover both car and light commercial vehicles, with the car chassis taking vehicles up to 3000kg in weight (800Kgf brake force) and the light commercial taking vehicles up to 6000KG in weight (1200Kgf brake force).`

Continental introduces new HSL 2+ size

Continental is introducing a 385/65R22.5 version of its Generation 2+ steer axle tyre, making the HSL 2+ front axle tyre now available in 11 different sizes. The range includes four XL versions of the long distance tyre for front axle loads of up to eight tonnes. Conti says this is in recognition of the increasing load on the front axle for vehicles with heavier drive trains to meet the Euro 6 emissions standard.
