The current issue of Auto Express looks at the best tyres available in Britain, and Continental is very happy with the outcome of this year’s test. Its ContiPremiumContact 5 has been voted the top tyre in the publication’s evaluation of 11 size 205/55R16 summer tyres, and Continental notes that the award “recognises the ContiPremiumContact 5 across a broad spectrum, taking top spot for dry handling, wet handling and wet braking.”
It’s been a fine start to life for the Continental WinterContact TS 860. In addition to receiving high praise from widely-read German car magazine Auto Bild, which described the winner of its test of 50 winter products as “an exemplary tyre without faults or flaws,” the new Continental winter tyre finished top of the class in its UK tyre test debut. Awarding first place to the WinterContact TS 860, Auto Express declared it a tyre that “delivers a winning blend of wet and dry grip plus fuel efficiency.”
Recent ads from Continental cockily ask ‘Who says you can’t win them all?’ The tyre maker raises a fair point – it has enjoyed a good run of test victories in recent times, with its ContiPremiumContact 5 topping the ADAC and Auto Bild tyre tests in Germany and the ContiSportContact 5 claiming victory in this year’s auto motor und sport summer tyre test. Here in the UK, the ContiSportContact 5 was named top tyre in the recent Auto Express test of 11 size 225/45R17 tyres, and now evo magazine has named the ContiSportContact 5 winner of its summer tyre test – for the second year in a row.
The team at Auto Express recently headed to Texas to evaluate 11 European market tyres at Continental’s Uvalde proving ground. The size 225/45R17 tyres were tested against ten criteria that covered wet and dry performance, rolling resistance and comfort. The result? Continental’s ContiSportContact 5 was voted King of the Hill in the Lone Star State.
