Stewart Peoples was the first truck driver employed by Lanarkshire logistics firm Stuart Nicol Transport. While the transport company is celebrating its 20th year in business, Peoples’ driving career stretches back more than 40 years, the majority of which have been spent rolling on Michelin’s commercial vehicle tyres. Fitted to his customised Scania S730, Peoples has proudly displayed Michelin branding on his vehicles and regularly painted his tyres with the manufacturer’s name, since he joined the company in 2004. Stuart Nicol Transport fits Michelin X Multi and X Works products on its more than 70 vehicles, with Michelin Remix retread tyres fitted to all of its 114 trailers.

Nokian Heavy Tyres has entered into a “new era of cooperation” with German retreader RuLa-BRW, which will use the tyre maker’s “innovative Noktop retreading material” in its pre-cure retreading process and offer these tyres to customers in the German market. In addition, RuLa-BRW states that it agreed upon a “strategic cooperation” yesterday during a meeting with representatives from local subsidiary Nokian Tyres GmbH.

Continental relaunched the Bandvulc retreading plant it acquired in 2016 as the ContiLifeCycle plant in March. Based on what Conti EMEA’s head of commercial consumer solutions Ralf Benack described as the existing “deep knowledge” of Bandvulc, the facility in Ivybridge, Devon has become a technical innovation hub for the company’s tyre retreading programme in the region. When Tyres & Accessories visited the plant later in the year, the manufacturer revealed the results of strong annual investments and its innovative implementation of automated processes for increased efficiency, and the key role that reatreading plays in Conti’s overall sustainability strategy.
