Business & Vehicle Finance Ltd, based in Swansea, provides contract hire and vehicle leasing to local and national companies with a current fleet of over 100 cars and vans – and a plan to expand this to over 500 by the end of the year.

The PCL Accura 1 inflator, launched at this year’s Automechanika, has passed the compulsory German test for digital inflation equipment. The PTB (Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt), sets standards for all gauge, calibration and metrology products used in Germany and only those which pass its rigorous tests for accuracy, safety and reliability are legally authorised for use.

Newton Aycliffe-based Credential Environmental and European Metal Recycling Ltd have signed an exclusive agreement for the processing of scrap tyres, in line with this summer’s start of the landfill tyre ban. Under the 12-month contract, car tyres on and off rim will be transferred from EMR sites to Credential Environmental tyre processing centres. An extension clause is included in the agreement, subject to approval by both parties.

When the all-new, redesigned 2007 Chrysler Sebring rolls into US showrooms this autumn it will be fitted exclusively with tyres from Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC (BFNT). BFNT will supply the Chrysler Group’s Sebring Sedan with Firestone FR690 tyres in size P215/65R16 96T, while the Chrysler Sebring Touring and Chrysler Sebring Limited will ride on Bridgestone-brand Turanza EL40002 tyres in sizes P215/60R17 95T and P215/55R18 94T, respectively.

The move has reportedly been made to make the company more responsive and does not entail moving production away from Kranj, Sava Tires said in a press release on 2 October.

Apollo Tyres has received approval from shareholders for raising 2.5 billion rupees through the issue of equity shares. The shareholders also gave approval for the board to allot up to 400,000 warrants on a preferential basis in one or more “tranches to promoter group companies,” Apollo Tyres informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

(Akron/Tire Review) Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.’s largest single stock owner, Shapiro Capital Management LLC, cut its stake in the Findlay, Ohio-tyre company by some 73 per cent. The sell off reportedly occurred in the third quarter of this year. As of Sept. 30, Shapiro held 3 per cent of all of Cooper’s outstanding shares – 1.87 million shares, down from 7.01 million four months earlier. Shapiro is now the 17th largest Cooper shareholder.

The new Michelin Alpin cold weather tyre has been awarded the highest rating – ‘highly recommendable’ in a comparative test conducted by ADAC, the German Automobile Association and Europes largest automobile club. ADAC, together with its Austrian and Swiss counterparts—Österreischischer Automobil Motorrad und Touring Club (ÖAMTC) and Touring Club Suisse (TCS)—compared nineteen 185/60 R14 cold weather tyres.

Yokohama has announced that it will supply an Advan branded control tyre for a new race series that will form part of the support package for the Advan-equipped 2007 FIA World Touring Car Championship. Currently called Formula S2000, the new series will feature identical single-seater chassis powered by a 250bhp four-cylinder engine and running on control Yokohama Advan tyres.

Alcoa Wheel Products has announced that it will install a new Dura-Bright line at its manufacturing facility in Székesfehérvár, Hungary. The new line will be the third such facility and will provide a significant addition in wheel capacity. Both passenger car and commercial vehicle wheels will be processed through this new line in Hungary. The new facility will begin producing Dura-Bright XBR wheels in 2008.
