Dunlop tyres OE on Nissan Fairlady Z Nismo
Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd reports it is supplying its Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT600 tyre for original equipment fitment on versions of the Nissan Fairlady Z Nismo sold in Japan. The Dunlop tyre is being fitted to the Nissan (which is sold as the 370Z in other markets) in size 245/40R19 98W XL (front) and 285/35R19 103W XL rear.

Nokian Tyres has been selected for Dow Jones’ DJSI World sustainability index. With a total sustainability score nearly twice as high as the industry average, Nokian Tyres significantly improved its results in the 2017 assessment. Nokian Tyres’ score of 78 points was only one point behind the industry’s highest-scoring company globally.

Kawaii!! Next summer, Japanese consumers will – should they wish – be able to buy Hello Kitty tyres for their cars. This too cute for words opportunity comes thanks to a collaboration between Sanrio and Nexen Tire Japan. The tyres will feature the Hello Kitty logo and name on the sidewall – in pink. A tyre featuring Cinnamoroll, a long-eared white flying puppy whose tail resembles a cinnamon roll, will also be available and will presumably by met by an eager market.

Official opening held for Continental agri tyre plant
A further milestone in Continental’s return to the agricultural tyre business was reached last week with the official opening of its production site in Lousado, Portugal. To begin with, the plant is manufacturing two ranges – the Tractor70 and Tractor85 – in 13 sizes.

Agritechnica launch for first Continental agricultural tyres
The initial two products in the reborn Continental agricultural tyre portfolio will debut at the Agritechnica show this November. The radial Tractor70 and Tractor85 ranges share the same design; Continental comments that both are “characterised by their robustness and durability” and “ensure a high degree of ride comfort and tractive force.”

Jorge Nogueira takes over as Arlanxeo’s CEO
Starting 9 September, Jorge Nogueira is chief executive officer of Arlanxeo. He succeeds Jan Paul de Vries, who has left the synthetic rubber manufacturer to “seek a new professional challenge.” Prior to his appointment as CEO, Nogueira headed the company’s Tire & Specialty Rubbers (TSR) business unit, and he been a member of the Arlanxeo Executive Board since the joint venture was founded in April 2016.

Michelin served as a partner at the 2017 FIM International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE), which took place in France at the end of August and start of September, and during this event it announced the start of sale of its latest enduro tyres, which took four years to develop.

On 24 September 2017, tens of thousands of bikers worldwide will once more don their finest threads and dust off their vintage and classic motorbikes for a city tour. And all for a good cause: the event, which is taking place for the sixth time, has the aim of raising money to fight prostate cancer and fund suicide prevention initiatives. Last year it collected more than 3.6 million US dollars, and in 2017 organisers hope to raise over 5 million dollars.
