Pyramids Tires expanding into car tyres

The Egyptian government is supporting the development of local tyre manufacturing including the addition of car tyre production to Pyramids Tires, said prime minister Moustafa Madbouli during a recent visit to Pyramids Tires on 20 April 2024.
According to official statements, Madbouli, who was accompanied by the ministers of local development and industry during the recent tour of the Port Said, Egypt-based tyremaker said the Egyptian government has “removed a number of hindrances for Pyramids factory to reach the aspired production by facilitating the measures of issuing licenses”.
During an earlier visit to Pyramids in September 2023, Madbouli observed that the factory “specialized in producing small tyres of motorcycles and rickshaws”. Now the factory is said to be moving into “…manufacturing different sizes of car tyres”.

Tyres & Accessories understands that the company is presently producing 12 and 13-inch tyres. Soon 14, 15, and 16-inch tyres will follow. Since this is “experimental production”, full-scale production will be available in markets “within a year of experimental production”, so that means mid-2025.
During a government meeting the week before the April 2024 visit, Madbouli pointed to a plan for annual growth to be not less than 15 per cent in all export-orientated industrial sectors, including tyre manufacturing and therefore Pyramids Tires. The government aims to increase the percentage of export growth via “the integration and consistent system between the state and the private sector until the growth is achieved,” he said.
For its part, Pyramids Tires opened in mid-2020.
