Cima Impianti showing the latest generation of its Ecoline range at Tire Cologne

One particular example with connections to both the new tyre and retreading businesses is Italian tyre manufacturing equipment specialist Cima Impianti, which is presenting the latest generation of its Ecoline range of vulcanisation presses at The Tire Cologne.
The Ecoline range has been in the market for around 15 years, but during that time has evolved into three lines: Eco Shield thermal insulated curing presses; Eco Heat induction heated curing presses; and the Hot N2, hot nitrogen inflation system. If used in combination, Eco Shield and Eco heat “guarantee greater thermal efficiency of the vulcanization presses, resulting in significant energy savings compared to traditional systems”, according to the company. Meanwhile, Hot N2 “has many positive effects on bladder duration and reduced cycle time, especially when it comes to new tyre production.
The general advantages of the three systems presented include: reduced press pre-heating time compared to traditional heating systems; reduced electricity consumption; elimination of heat loss dissipated by the structure of the press; improved temperature control; greater efficiency; eliminated boiler results in safer and cleaner work environment; the addition of heated nitrogen inflation “achieve[s] longer bladder life, improved temperature uniformity inside the tyre, and considerably reduced vulcanization time” (look out for further details at The Tire Cologne in June and in our post-show review coverage).
