ReOil pyrolysis process the template for Grimsby plant

North East Lincolnshire Council has approved plans for a pyrolysis plant for processing end-of-life tyres in Grimsby. The facility proposed by Fluid Ice FO Ltd has the capacity to process nearly 25,000 tonnes of waste tyres annually. Fluid Ice claims that the plant will use a pyrolysis process “based on the plant” operated by ReOil in Jazworno, Poland, which produces saleable fuel oil, carbon black and steel as well as pyrolysis gas.
ReOil Sp. Z.O.O. and Fluid Ice FO Ltd are both named as major shareholders in UK registered firm European Tire Recycling Ltd., however ReOil stresses to Tyrepress.com that “Reoil does not and will not cooperate with Fluid Ice FO Ltd.” ReOil further points out that Fluid Ice FO Ltd does not own and has never owned any shares, know-how, or rights to the Reoil plant in Poland.
Approving the project on 8 April 2024, North East Lincolnshire Council commented that it would “result in economic investment in the area” by “regenerating the site” adjacent to Energy Park Way in Grimsby. The council also noted that “ecological issues have been addressed” and opined that the proposal “would not harm the area character or local amenity.”
According to the revised design and access statement that Fluid Ice submitted last month, the ELT pyrolysis plant in Grimsby is expected to employ 40 to 50 permanent full-time workers and 30 to 40 contract workers. In addition to providing “truly green, circular economy products,” Fluid Ice anticipates that the facility will generate greenhouse gas savings of around 65,000 tonnes each year.
