Nokian Tyres has published its Corporate Sustainability Report 2020, which it states was prepared “in accordance with the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) Standards” and verified by an independent third party. The Corporate Sustainability Report describes Nokian Tyres’ work on sustainability actions in 2020 in terms of product liability and safety as well as social, economic, and environmental responsibility.

Within the report, Nokian Tyres shares details of several sustainability milestones it reached in 2020:

Nokian Tyres was the first tyre company to have its emissions reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Its new factory in the US received LEED v4 Silver certification for green building.

100 per cent of all Nokian Tyres’ waste was recycled in Finland, and 99 per cent in Russia and in the US.

The company’s injury frequency rate LTIF has dropped 73 per cent from 2015.

Nokian Tyres has lowered the rolling resistance of its tyres by 8.5 per cent on average since 2013.
