Kumho plant workers vote for USW representation

US-based industrial union the United Steelworkers reports that it now represents approximately 325 workers at the Kumho Tire factory in Macon, Georgia. The workforce’s status as a bargaining unit comes almost two years after an initial vote on the matter was held.

After commenting that Kumho Tire “spent thousands upon thousands of dollars and used every trick in the book to fight its own workers” in their efforts to join the USW, Daniel Flippo, director of USW District 9, states: “We look forward to resolving these challenges as quickly as possible so that these workers can finally have the chance to sit down with the company and bargaining a fair contract.”
