Continental acquires site adjacent to Romania tyre plant

Continental aims to expand its storage capacity and optimise the overall cost of its logistics

With the purchase of 32 hectares of land in the Romanian city of Timişoara, Continental aims to expand its storage capacity and optimise the overall cost of its logistics. The land was purchased from the UMT and Prompt groups for an undisclosed sum and is located close to the Continental tyre factory within the city.

Announcing the transaction, Continental comments that it has invested more than 460 million euros in the Timişoara tyre factory during the company’s 18 years activity there and created more than 2,500 jobs. The plant has delivered 200 million tyres to European and global customers to-date and has a current annual capacity of 17 million tyres. The product range manufactured in Timişoara includes car and van tyres and covers 13- to 20-inch rim diameters.
