Red Dot award for Hankook DynaSYNC

Hankook says the DynaSYNC represents its “next generation” of off-road tyre design

Hankook Tire has commented on the naming of its DynaSYNC concept tyre as a Red Dot Design Award 2016 winner. Company chairman and chief executive officer Seung Hwa Suh describes the Red Dot recognition as a “great honour” for Hankook. “Receiving the award solidifies Hankook Tire’s commitment and determination to lead future driving through progressive innovation and creative design. Hankook Tire will continue to contribute to advancement in driving with aspiration for innovative technology.”

The DynaSYNC off-road tyre concept was developed as part of Hankook Tire’s collaboration with shoe outsole manufacturer Vibram. Hankook says the design of the tyre “enables safe and powerful driving in diverse off-road conditions.” DynaSYNC features Vibram’s Carrarmato lug design on its tread pattern to improve traction in mountainous terrain, while a honeycomb groove structure aims to prevent puncture or tyre chips due to gravel or stones. This, says Hankook, improves shock absorption and provides powerful and safe handling. And the sidewall comes in a variety of colour compounds, allowing car owners to match the tyres to their car’s body colour.

The Red Dot award for the DynaSYNC is the fourth design award that Hankook Tire has received this year. In February it received an iF Design Award, and the following month gained a Mercury Excellence Award and a Red Dot Design Award in the Produce Design category. “The continuous recognition by world’s renowned design awards highlights Hankook Tire’s global top tier technology and design leadership,” comments the tyre maker in a statement.

A total of 4,698 entries from 60 countries participated in Red Dot Design Award this year. The award ceremony will take place at the Red Dot Design Museum in Singapore on 22 September 2016.
