CAM is supporting Gloucestershire-based Ruskin Mill College as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme for 2015. The college, which recently achieved a new ‘Good’ rating following an Ofsted inspection, is one of four specialist centres operated by Ruskin Mill Trust that provides Practical Skills Therapeutic Education, inspired by Rudolf Steiner, John Ruskin and William Morris, for both day and residential provision.

Ruskin Mill’s expert tutors work with young people aged 16-25 with complex behaviour and learning difficulties and disabilities.  The three-year course provides an exciting and wide range of practical skills course subjects that give students the opportunity to learn through conducting real-life purposeful activities that enhance their intellectual, emotional and physical health.

Mike Allen, managing director of CAM, says, “We feel that the educational programme that Ruskin Mill undertakes aligns well with CAM’s own philosophy of providing the opportunity for young people to develop and nurture their skills and talents so they go onto achieve their true potential.  We decided to support the college financially this year as part of our sustainable CSR programme, as we could clearly see how our contribution could continue to help it develop and improve its practical skills curriculum.”

Dan Alipaz, principal of the college, adds, “It is through the generosity and commitment of businesses like CAM that Ruskin Mill can continue to pioneer exciting new initiatives that will ensure the college is at the forefront of Practical Skills Therapeutic Education.  We are delighted to have a partner that understands the importance of preparing young adults to lead a fulfilling life in the wider community.”
