Pirelli Working With Developer on Burton Retail Site Development

Date: 14th October 2009 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Pirelli is cooperating with a property developer on plans to build a housing estate on the site of its Burton factory’s former retail division. Developer St. Modwen Properties, who purchased a 21-acre plot from Pirelli in 2005 and a further nine acres in 2007, intends to construct around 200 houses on a 20-acre site.

“Pirelli has been working closely with St. Modwen to prepare and jointly submit a planning application for the redevelopment of Beech Lane and the reconfiguration of the Pirelli factory,” Dominic Sandivasci, managing director of Pirelli UK, told the Burton Mail. “We look forward to the regeneration of the area, which will also include the continued investment and improvements to the Pirelli facilities.”

Specific details of the development will be placed on public display. Feedback received will be taken into account when St. Modwen prepares its planning application to the East Staffordshire Borough Council later in the year.
