Blinking Valve Caps Warn of Low Pressure

Date: 8th February 2007 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

With low tyre pressure causing increased fuel consumption and accelerated tyre wear, not to mention its effect on handling and safety, keep track of the amount of air in your vehicle’s tyres is an important task. And it’s one that’s now been made easier thanks to an inexpensive device recently released in the US.

Aviation Upgrade Technologies have released a replacement tyre valve cap – it fits on a tyre just like a normal cap, and can be calibrated to the tyre’s required pressure. When the pressure within the tyre decreases significantly (the manufacturer states this will begin after a drop in pressure of 4psi), an LED fitted into the cap begins blinking, and reportedly the LED is bright enough to be seen in daylight. This flashing will continue for more than three weeks if not attended to.

A set of four caps sells for US$25, and are available online at www.avaiationupgrade.com
