According to Robert Dworczak, who has been associated with the Semperit brand for 33 years, Semperit and Continental “will gain all-season tyres”
What differentiates those who work in marketing within the tyre industry from those employed in a technical capacity? The latter tend not to mince words, and are more likely to say what they think rather than slip into jargon and PR-speak. We can learn a lot from this direct approach.
Colleagues from our sister publication in Germany are currently attending the launch of the new Speed Grip 3 winter tyre, a product from Continental’s Semperit brand. One of the speakers at the presentation was product developer Robert Dworczak, who shared information about a product conspicuously lacking from the Continental portfolio in Europe – but may not be for much longer. He stated that “Semperit and Conti will gain all-season tyres.”
Dworczak’s comment may create some raised eyebrows within the company’s communications department. Even though major competitors such as Michelin and Pirelli have already introduced all-season products, Continental’s official line on the issue remains “summer tyres in the summer, winter tyres in the winter.” Yet according to what Dworczak shared, it remains no longer a question of whether Continental will ever consider launching its own all-season ranges, rather a question of when.
