Fitting Michelin X Works tyres across its fleet has allowed concrete, mortar and screed supplier, Eco-Readymix, to record a reduction in tyre damage and downtime, it says. In the 12 months ending 30 June 2020, Michelin received just 769 eligible claims for damage under its free accidental damage guarantee for regional commercial tyres. Nearly 120,000 entitled truck and bus tyres were sold in the UK and Ireland during this period, meaning a claim rate of 0.65 per cent. Michelin says the rate highlights its product quality, and demonstrates its products’ safety, performance and uptime benefits. The manufacturer claims to be the first to introduce such a guarantee. The programme now covers the majority of its regional and on/off-road ranges when specified as either original equipment or as a replacement.
FreshLinc Group has moved its entire bulk transport fleet onto its existing Effitires tyre management contract. The company’s fleet now runs exclusively on Michelin tyres as a result. It operates four separate divisions – FreshLinc Chilled, FLX Logistics, DirectLinc and FLB – with a combined fleet of approximately 400 commercial vehicles. The company has fitted Michelin tyre for more than a decade.
Shire Aggregates has specified Michelin tyres as original equipment across 12 new MAN 32-tonne 8×4 tippers and adopted a Michelin policy as standard for future tyre purchases. Michelin Americas Truck Tires has introduced the Michelin X Works Z all-position heavy duty tyre for mixed on/off-road applications used in demanding environments.
According to the company, the tyre is designed to improve uptime with a 50 per cent wider protector ply and a thicker layer of cushion gum than leading competitors. Performance gains reportedly include a 5 per cent increase in mileage.
Blaby District Council in Leicestershire has switched to a Michelin tyre policy across its commercial vehicle fleet following a year-long trial on a set of Michelin X Works tyres. All tyre servicing will be carried out by local dealership Lodge Tyres’ Leicester branch. The council is also specifying the tyres as original equipment.
Michelin has launched a guarantee on its on/off-road X Works commercial tyre range. The manufacturer says the guarantee is designed to protect customers from the financial risk of accidental tyre damage, while also underlining its confidence in the durability of the range.
