Boughey Distribution opts for Michelin X Multi Energy tyres

Date: 16th June 2021 Author: Peter Gardner Comments: 0
Boughey Distribution is fitting Michelin X Multi Energy tyres to its new vehicles

Wardle-based Boughey Distribution has specified the fitment of Michelin X Multi Energy tyres to all new vehicles joining its fleet, thus maintaining its policy of 100 per cent Michelin fitment across all axles. Boughey will be taking delivery of 127 new Volvo FH 460 6×2 tractor units with Globetrotter XL cabs over the next two years, all shod with 315/70 R22.5 Michelin X Multi Energy drive tyres.

The decision was taken by Boughey Distribution’s fleet engineer, Paul Brimelow, in conjunction with Quinton Tyres, who have been Boughey’s tyre service provider for over 14 years. Says Brimelow: “The decision to renew our entire fleet with Volvo FHs gave us the opportunity to analyse every aspect of the vehicle specification, and ensure it was fine-tuned for maximum efficiency.

“The team at Quinton Tyres recommended the X Multi Energy tyres, and it just made perfect sense. It’s ideal for the mix of work we handle; still offers excellent mileage potential, with no trade-off in terms of safety and durability, plus we can enjoy a notable improvement in fuel efficiency.

“Being part of the X Multi range also means it qualifies for Michelin’s free accidental tyre damage guarantee, which gives us the reassurance that our investment is protected in the event of the damage before it is 50 per cent worn.”

For Quinton Tyres, Managing Director Stuart Quinn explains: “Boughey Distribution looks to us to provide strategic-level consultancy as well as quality tyres backed up by professional tyre management expertise. This starts by recommending the best possible fitments for the fleet, and then managing them carefully through multiple lives on the fleet to extract the maximum performance from every single tyre.”

The Michelin X Multi Energy is the company’s first-ever regional fuel-

saving tyre, incorporating several innovative technologies, such as InfiniCoil, which sees a continuous steel wire wrapped around the tyre to provide greater tread stability, resulting in enhanced fuel savings and increased tyre life, and Powercoil; an advanced generation of robust steel casing cables, is also used to help reduce rolling resistance and contribute to the tyre’s fuel-saving capabilities.

Michelin X Multi Energy tyres are regrooveable and retreadable via the Michelin Remix process, and benefit from 3PMSF (Three Peak Mountain Snowflake) and M+S (Mud + Snow) sidewall markings which are testament to their grip and performance in all weather conditions.
