
Bridgestone closing non-tyre facility in Japan
Bridgestone Corporation is currently restructuring its non-tyre Diversified Products business and has announced its intention to close a factory in Japan as part of consolidation efforts related to production of automotive seat pads. It will close the Bridgestone Chemitech plant in Ageo, Saitama Prefecture in the fourth quarter of 2023 and consolidate operations within the three remaining facilities dedicated to automotive seat pad production – Bridgestone Chemitech’s Nabari and Hofu sites as well as Bridgestone Diversified Chemical Products’ Tosu plant.

Geneva International Motor Show postponed to 2023
The organiser of the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) has announced the event’s cancellation for a second year. Comité permanent du Salon international de lautomobile states that it was “forced to postpone the event to 2023” due to “industry-wide issues relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

US market launch for Hankook Dynapro XT & AT2 Xtreme
Hankook Tire is expanding its Dynapro line-up in North America with the introduction of the new ‘Rugged Terrain’ Hankook Dynapro XT and next-generation Dynapro AT2 Xtreme. It will offer the Dynapro XT is 30 sizes in this market. At launch the Dynapro AT2 Xtreme will cover 32 sizes, however Hankook says it will continue adding new sizes through a phased launch, eventually reaching 98 total sizes by 2022. The tyre maker states that the introduction of the two products will accelerate its penetration into the US market.

Agritechnica organiser expecting 2,000 exhibitors
With just five months to go until the Agritechnica 2022 show begins, organiser DLG (the German Agricultural Society) says it expects around 2,000 exhibitors from 50 countries to be present at the show in Hannover. It adds that its Agritechnica Tracker 2021 survey suggests that visitor interest “continues to grow” as well, with approximately 94 per cent of respondents indicating they will attend next year’s fair and 58 per cent already certain that they will be there.

Auto Bild Allrad tests winter SUV tyres
According to Auto Bild Allrad, winter tyres continue to improve in regards to their performance – but are also becoming pricier. The specialist SUV and 4x4 publication thus asks whether these products are worth buying. In order to provide an answer, it tested ten premium, value and budget tyres in size 235/55 R18. What Auto Bild Allrad found is that it is still possible to get “good performance at a fair price” when buying winter tyres. It rated the two best-scoring performers as ‘exemplary’ products and named them this year’s joint winners.

Michelin has appointed Andrew French as B2B sales director for the UK and Ireland, with responsibility for truck and bus, van, agriculture, construction, mining and the Services and Solutions business lines. He takes on the role with immediate effect, just weeks after celebrating his 25th anniversary with the company – having joined Michelin as an apprentice in August 1996.
