Bridgestone amongst top 10 Sustainable Development Enterprises in Vietnam
In mid-December Bridgestone was named amongst the Top 10 Sustainable Development Enterprises in Vietnam. This is the fifth year Bridgestone Vietnam has been named in the Top 100 and is the only tyre industry representative on the list, according to local news reports. The list is compiled by Business Council for Sustainable Development Vietnam. (VBCSD) under the auspices of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

Autodoc appoints new VP of brand management
Autodoc has appointed Moritz Diekmann as vice president brand management responsible for the development and implementation of then the online auto part retailer’s brand strategy. Within that role, the 49-year-old will develop the Autodoc brand as well as its own brands Ridex and Stark. According to the company, an international team of marketing experts in Berlin and Odessa is available to him for this purpose. Diekmann reports directly to CEO Christian Gisy.

North America: Goodyear launches EV aftermarket range
While tyre makers serving the UK and European markets typically cover replacement demand for electric vehicle tyres with energy-efficient products they also aim at ICE-powered cars, in North America Goodyear has introduced a replacement market tyre that’s specifically tuned for EVs. It has launched the Goodyear ElectricDrive GT in size 255/45R19 104W XL and intends to expand the line-up in 2022.

Birla Carbon closes US$750 million Sustainability Linked Loan
On 17 December, Birla Carbon executed a US$750 million Sustainability Linked Loan (SLL) with a syndicate of more than 15 banks and intends to use the proceeds from the loan to refinance its existing debts. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) linked to the facility include: “direct CO2 intensity, bringing circular products to market, and an external rating of Sustainability”. The funds direct connection with “bringing circular products to market” could be interpreted as an indication that the company is willing to invest in technologies such as pyrolysis which seeks to recover carbon black from end-products such as tyres.
