TRIB Board Meeting Time Changes
(Akron/Tire Review) TRIB will hold its annual board of directors meeting during the upcoming SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The meeting will be held on Monday, 30 October, from 16:00 to 18:00 at Caesars Palace. TRIB notes that the exact room location for the meeting will be announced later. The time of the meeting has also changed from its previously announced time.

For the Chinese Tire Group of Factories Ltd., Inc, the CITExpo is always is like a home match because it has distribution offices in Shanghai as well production facilities in Shandong province. On the other hand, the manufacturer of the Riverstone tyre brand sells about 100 per cent of its tyres on export markets, says sales representative Rebecca Zhang. Thus the Tire Group of Factories can also benefit from the increasing reputation of the CITExpo show among international visitors. However, the company didn’t present its products on a large scale during the show because it had booked only a very small cubicle. Although the domestic Chinese tyre market is growing at an enormous rate, export markets are also offering an ever more tempting business opportunity for tyre manufacturers from China. In light of major production over-capacities in particular in the PC tyre segment European and American tyre markets almost assure profitable and relatively easy growth perspectives to Chinese tyre companies. The Yinbao Tyre Group for example is one company that is currently adjusting its own growth strategy towards a more international standing. The company is based in the city of Shouguang in Shandong province. Export manager Sino He explains that the company, which was founded in 1994 has sold its truck, OTR and industrial tyres on the domestic market until very recently. It is offering the tyre brands Goodtyre, Yinbao and Huibao.

With a name like Eurotire it might sound surprising that Eurotire Inc has barely been present in the Western European market before now, despite having production capacity on the continent. However, Eurotire Inc. (which shouldn’t be mistaken for the Dutch tyre wholesaler Euro-Tyre) operates its trading operations from an office in Chicago (Illinois/USA), manufacturing its OTR tyres in a factory in the Ukrainian city of Dnipropetrovsk. The company was founded in 2001 but didn’t sell its first OTR tyres with the Eurotire brand name until 2005.

Kwik-Fit Fleet has won a two-year sole supply contract with Pendragon Group to supply fast-fit and tyre management services to the three contract hire and fleet management companies within the organisation. The new deal, which Kwik-Fit Fleet won after fighting off competition in a competitive tender, means Britain’s largest independent fast-fit company will supply services to the 25,178 vehicles operated by Pendragon Contracts, Bramall Contracts and Vardy Contract Motoring.

(Akron/Tire Review) TRIB has added two new international members, one from China and the other from Oman. Joining TRIB are Favorsea International Group Ltd., based in Jiangsu, China, and House of Tyres LLC, based in Oman. The new members give TRIB a total of 460 members in 37 countries. “TRIB continues to grow internationally as more and more companies in the retread industry throughout the world realize that TRIB is the only international retread industry association,” said Harvey Brodsky, TRIB’s managing director.

A new tyre recycling technology has been successfully tested in North Wales, leading to suggestions a new commercial-scale recycling plant will open next year. Used Tyre Distillation Research Ltd told letsrecycle.com it has opened a fully functioning pilot plant to demonstrate its new processing technology at Ruabon, near Wrexham. According to the report, plans to purchase equipment have already been made, which could scale the pilot plant at up to 17,000 tonnes annual capacity. There are also said to be hopes of developing further plants in the UK and abroad.

Chinese manufacturers want to and, in fact, already are benefiting from strong international demand for OTR tyres. One company that follows these lines very closely is the China Noble OTR Tyre Co., Ltd. When at the turn of the century it was becoming more evident that there was going to be a strong growth on the profitable OTR tyre market, Noble Tyre decided to jump on the bandwagon. The company’s co-founder Sky Zhuang said in an interview with Tyres & Accessories that this was the time when Noble decided to change its production plans. The company used to produce truck tyres and then changed over to the production of OTR tyres and thus invested considerable amounts of money from 2001 onwards.
