Textar brakes key as truck racer Newell enjoys winning weekend
Newell & Wright Motorsport driver John Newell raced through the grid at the first British Truck Racing Association (BTRA) weekend at Donington, with Textar brakes proving the difference. Textar braking enables Newell to brake later and stop quicker than other drivers, and this point was more than proven as Newell made up places in every Sunday race, culminating in a first-place finish in the final race.

Hankook Ventus Race in action in three European series
Hankook’s Ventus Race tyre is in action at three major series this weekend. The tyre follows up DTM, Formula Renault Eurocup, and 24H Series powered by Hankook action with events at the Nürburgring and the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours. Saturday’s race at the Nürburgring marks the DTM’s halfway point, with Sunday’s second race getting the second half immediately underway. The series lines up on the Grand Prix circuit for the first time for 19 years, including 17 corners and big changes in elevation. Hankook says the resulting compressions place great strain on the construction of the Ventus Race, as do the solid kerbs, which are taken at great speed.

The Mini Challenge returns this weekend for its second set of races since its Covid-delayed start at Donington Park (1-2 August). The move to Goodyear, in the final year of its 2017 penned Dunlop supply deal, signifies the continued realignment of the Goodyear brand within motorsport. Having already returned to the international stage with top-flight series like the FIA World Endurance Championship, Goodyear wants to expand its presence in national series too. The Mini Challenge JCWs run on a variation of Goodyear’s new Eagle F1 SuperSport slick tyre range. The company stresses the strength of this move for the development of competitors looking to make the step up to the headline BTCC series.
