Nokian Heavy Tyres cutting output – negotiating with employee representatives

Nokian Heavy Tyres Ltd. has commenced “change negotiations” to adapt its production to meet market demand. The negotiations, which will last for two weeks, relate to approximately 160 employees at the company’s factory in Nokia, Finland.
In a statement issued this morning, Nokian Tyres says it is considering a range of measures, including furloughing workers and a shortening of the working day and/or week. Initial plans are for temporary layoffs for a maximum of 90 days per employee. The company cites “productional and financial reasons” for these measures, which it plans to implement during the remainder of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025.
