Bond International completes purchase of Central Scotland warehouse

Bond International has completed the purchase of a 200,000 sqft warehouse in Bathgate, Scotland, continuing the Pocklington, Yorkshire-based tyre wholesaler’s expansion of operations north of the border. Elsewhere in Scotland, Bond has also acquired Birkenshaw Distributors Ltd and formed a joint venture with Goodtread Tyre Co, enabling the company to make same-day deliveries to “a large proportion of Scotland.” The new warehouse is located on the M8 belt between major Scottish cities Glasgow and Edinburgh, allowing it to deliver to both population centres several times a day.
Nationally in the UK, Bond is on the march. It recently formed a distribution partnership with Halfords and acquired Viking Wholesale. Both of these strategic moves brought with them a substantial amount of Scottish tyre distribution, and Bond says the Bathgate site is well set to “enable a first-class delivery service” for these customers. It has also launched the new Admiral brand of tyres.
Bond International CEO Charlie Bond said: “Another part of our expansion plan was a site in Scotland. We have been fortunate to find a warehouse not only big enough for our anticipated sales levels, but in the perfect location, logistically, to be able to give all of our Scotland based customers high delivery service levels. This is another step towards the expansion plan we set out in 2019, with still more to come.”
