Michelin has shared a few key details about its new AgriBib Row Crop IF, a range of Improved Flexion tyres designed specifically for use on self-propelled and trailed sprayers and on low to medium horsepower row crop tractors from 70 to 180HP. According to the manufacturer, this newest addition to its agricultural tyre range offers farmers and contractors three major benefits.

The first of these is a higher load capacity due to its IF standard casing. Second, traction is improved due to greater lug contact; when comparing the AgriBib Row Crop IF with the AgriBib Row Crop normal flex in size 380/90 R 50 and with a load of 3,600kg at a pressure corresponding to 30 km/h, Michelin found that lug contact in the tread pattern was up to 14 per cent better. Third, the tyre has a R1W (TRA standard) tread, which means it offers a 20 per cent larger footprint area than an equivalent R1 tyre, thereby reducing soil compaction.

Speaking about the new range, Ludovic Labeaume, agricultural product category manager at Michelin, said: “Today’s sprayers have larger and larger tanks to increase productivity and reduce the number of trips a farmer has to make to refill. In order to adapt to this new trend, we have developed the Michelin AgriBib Row Crop IF range which allows a heavier load capacity to be carried at the same pressure compared to a standard tyre, while having more lugs on the ground and improving traction in muddy conditions. When these tyres are used on tractors which do not need an increase in load, the farmer can also work at a lower air pressure due to the IF standard, resulting in reduced soil compaction.”

The Michelin AgriBib Row Crop IF range is manufactured at Michelin’s Troyes plant in France and will be available in five sizes: IF 380/90 R 50 167A8/167B, IF 320/85 R 38 151A8/151B, IF 380/90 R 46 165A8/165B, IF 320/90 R 54 159A8/159B, IF 320/90 R 50 158A8/158B.
