Goodbye Goodyear – new Tecar tyre manufacturer from 2019

The ESA+Tecar Spirit 5 HP (l) and Super Grip 9 achieved good results in European tyre tests last year

It’s an open secret that Goodyear has produced the Tecar tyre brand for the past four decades. Tecar International admittedly has a policy of not naming the Tecar producer, and therefore we don’t know who’ll be making the brand as of next year. But we do know it won’t be Goodyear.

Speaking with ESA, Swiss member of Tecar International and creator of the Tecar brand, our sister publication Neue Reifenzeitung received confirmation that Goodyear would stop making Tecar tyres in 2019. Matthias Krummen, head of management services and communication at ESA, declined to name the new Tecar manufacturer, saying only that it was a company that develops and manufactures in Europe and offers “a certain flexibility” in regards to production. He added that the Tecar range would continue to be marketed as “high quality products” sold at “attractive prices.”
