Traction tread added to Nokian retreading range

Date: 18th February 2013 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Nokian Tyres has introduced a new product into its Noktop range of retreading materials. The Finnish manufacturer describes the new Noktop 86 traction tread as offering “never before seen reliability for demanding earthmoving applications.” Elaborating on this bold statement, Nokian says the rubber compound used in the Noktop 86 provides “excellent puncture and cut protection under demanding conditions in mines and gravel pits where quarried rock presents an ever-challenging working environment.”

“The world of mining, for example, places heavy demands on tyres, since the passageways are problematic in themselves,” comments Teppo Siltanen, product development manager for Nokian Truck Tyres. “You may run into water and larger rocks along the way, and avoiding obstacles is not always an option in the narrow tunnels. The Nokian Noktop 86 traction tread is especially designed for these challenging work locations. Nokian Heavy Tyres is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of special tyres, and it provides Nokian Tyres with expertise and understanding concerning the requirements of mining conditions. This expertise has been utilised in the design of this tread.”

The Nokian Noktop 86 traction tread is designed for short transfer distances, and particularly for off-road use in special vehicles. The large-block tread pattern and wide grooves are said to ensure good cleaning and grip properties. The Nokian Noktop 86 has been designed for size 315/80R22.5 and 13R22.5 casings and is available from early 2013.

Although best known for its winter tyres, Nokian Tyres is reportedly the largest manufacturer of retreading materials in the Nordic countries. The company says its Nokian Noktop range of retreading materials is designed for demanding conditions, with product development guided by Nokian’s unique winter expertise and a principle of sustainable safety.
