Essex dealership Pirelli’s 2011 PPC of the year
Pirelli announced last month that Benfleet Jet Wheel and Tyres was its 2011 Pirelli Performance Centre of the year. The Essex-based branch was presented with the prestigious award at the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team’s Operations Centre in Brackley on 14 February. Pirelli’s 83 Performance Centres are audited high-performance tyre dealerships, allowing Pirelli to direct owners of high performance cars in confidence.
The annual award was inaugurated in 2007 to commemorate the efforts of the company’s PPC depots across the country. Benfleet Jet Wheel and Tyres has won the accolade twice in its five-year existence after previously winning the award back in 2009. From the 83 PPC depots based in the UK, eight were shortlisted for the coveted award after gaining Platinum status in their latest Pirelli technical audit. The final eight were subject to a mystery shopper visit, testing their knowledge of Pirelli’s Cold Weather tyres. Although all eight scored impressive results, Benfleet Jet Wheel and Tyre came out top.
“Feedback on all of our depots was outstanding,” explains Catherine Kirk, Trade & Consumer marketing manager at Pirelli UK. “All staff were polite and helpful with depots reported as clean and tidy. The staff at the Benfleet Jet Wheel and Tyre depot, however, were the team that went the extra mile. Their product knowledge was outstanding and they explained everything in an easy to understand manner, and they also bent over backwards to source the correct tyres.

What makes the achievement all the more remarkable is that it’s the second time that Benfleet Jet Wheel Tyre has won this award, which goes to show the exceptional levels of customer service and technical ability that they consistently achieve.
