Corghi looking to expand into Brazil and China

Date: 1st June 2011 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

In pursuit of the Italian garage equipment brand’s international intentions, Corghi has released details of the development strategy the firm is pursuing. According to Corghi representatives, the plan centres on so-called BRIC markets (Brazil, Russia, India and China) as the main guideline for growth. And for this reason the company reports it is making “significant investment in both the manufacturing and commercial side” of the business, investments that are said to be “already starting to bear fruit.”

Thanks also to the operational commencement of the manufacturer’s new production site in Suzhou, which opened last December, Corghi reports that its businesses in China have “had a boost during the course of 2010.” The firm reports that it has developed contacts with “leading tyre manufacturers worldwide.” One example of this is the fact that Corghi is now the official network supplier in China for Michelin, Goodyear and Continental, in addition to its historical relationship with Pirelli and Bridgestone.
In particular all of Continental’s new BestDrive chain stores, which are expanding throughout Asia, are said to be fully equipped with Corghi wheel service equipment among which the Artiglio 50 tyre changer, the EM 7480 wheel balancer and the Exact 70 wheel aligner all stand out.

In addition the company’s Pro Line tyre changers and wheel balancers, which are produced in the Suzhou factory, have also been endorsed by Volkswagen to be offered to all their partners both in China and around the world.

South America and Brazil

In 2010 Corghi embarked on a collaboration with NA Solutions with whom it participated in the 11th Feira Internacional de Autopeças, Equipamentos and Serviços held in San Paolo, Brazil last April. This partnership is seen as significant because Brazil is widely recognised as an important but traditionally difficult market for importers of tyres and equipment due to the high customs duties.

“The great professionalism of this new partner together with the technology of Corghi products means it is possible to penetrate the most advanced customer segments with products such as the Exact BlackTech wheel aligner, the Artiglio 500 tyre changer and the EM 7480 wheel balancer,” company representatives told Tyres & Accessories, adding: “Also there is great interest for the heavy vehicle equipment sector in a country where road transport is booming; in fact the new heavy duty tyre changers HD 700 and HD 900 are proving very successful.”

As a result of the company’s return to and expansion in Brazil alongside a historical presence in all other Latin American markets, the outlook for Corghi in this part of the world is deemed to be “very positive.”
