Starco takes on Schaad distribution in Denmark

Date: 7th April 2011 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

At the start of March, Starco increased its involvement with Schaad products throughout much of the Nordic region. The group’s home market distribution company, Starco A/S, took over the range’s distribution in Denmark and Starco has also taken on a sales and support role for Schaad throughout the Scandinavian market, aside from certain products in Sweden that will continue to be handled by Gripen Wheels.

Swiss manufacturer Schaad – in whom Starco is a shareholder – is best known for the dual wheel system that bears its name. The Schaad system is produced for tractors and other agricultural and industrial equipment, and the product portfolio includes the HD/HD+ six-lock dual wheel system for tractors between 200 hp and 600 hp, the MD/MD+ dual wheel system for tractors up to 200 hp, the SOK for mini-loaders and bob-cats and the Clic for ATVs. The GS Schaad system is approved for all tractors, Starco notes.

Schaad Bros. Ltd. was founded in 1972 by brothers Fritz J. and Rudolf Schaad. Their objective, comments Starco, was to develop and sell technically sophisticated quick-connection systems for the rapid coupling of dual wheels to tractors, agricultural and construction machines and other transport machinery. Dual wheels are advantageous as they reduce pressure on the ground, improve traction and stability on slopes and thus give safer operation and handling. The Schaad quick coupling system provides a universal coupling system that enables the user-friendly attachment of dual wheels to tractor and machinery wheels. Whilst several wheel or vehicle-specific dual wheel systems currently exist on the market, Starco notes that Schaad is the only manufacturer whose constant innovation has resulted in a coupling system that is compatible with all tractors and machinery worldwide.

Starco acquired a 20 per cent shareholding in Gebr. Schaad AG in 2007, and this was later increased to 40 per cent. As a key shareholder, the Starco Group says it will continue to support and enhance the development of Schaad products with design, manufacturing, logistics and marketing expertise. This integration of Schaad products into the Starco product range is an integral part of the Danish company’s ongoing strategy “to become the global market leader in special wheels”. The company says its aim with the Schaad dual wheel systems and other Starco ranges is to create lasting value for end users through a combination of product quality and Starco service.
