Stapleton’s: 4×4 consumers are monitoring spending closely

Date: 25th February 2011 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

As we have seen in the opening article of this year’s 4×4 feature, despite the current high fuel prices and doom and gloom of the economy, the 4×4 vehicle parc seems to grow unhindered. However Stapleton’s believe the high running costs associated with 4x4s are leading consumers to monitor their spending more closely, with many looking to make savings on their purchases.

“We aim to have one of the most comprehensive ranges of tyres in the market. In order to help retailers who may be feeling the effects of the current economic climate, with some consumers looking to spend less per visit, we offer a range of 4×4 tyres including our exclusive brands Matador and Nexen, which have sizes for all high-performance vehicles and SUVs,” said Steve Parker, Stapleton’s trading director, adding:

“We are trying to help customers beat the financial squeeze by offering the full range of 4×4 tyres at competitive prices. We combine outstanding customer service with an unrivalled range of tyres from budget to premium. By being aware of the current climate and offering a range of options, Stapleton’s can continue to provide the solutions that tyre retailers require.”

With what it describes as “a market-leading stock capacity,” Stapleton’s offers a wide range of 4×4/SUV tyres across all premium brands, including Bridgestone, Continental, Dunlop, Goodyear, Pirelli and Michelin. In addition the firm carries a range of competitively priced alternatives from its exclusive and private brands.

With four tread patterns and over 34 sizes, The Matador brand boasts a range that covers the majority of the 4×4 market.  Stephen Childs, Stapleton’s head of range planning and marketing said: “The Matador 4×4 range provides four products that cover a variety of drivers’ needs; the Conquerra and Hectorra UHP range provides the SUV on-road solution, whilst the Izzarda and Wisentta are suitable for off-road applications.”  All Matador tyres are available through the Matador Key Dealer Programme, benefits of which include preferential purchase prices, personalised reward programmes, branded clothing and in-store support.

Stapleton’s also offers Nexen for a “comprehensive 4×4 solution” with its Roadian range. Offering 60 sizes, with patterns designed for everything from on-road driving to full mud-terrain applications, the company says this tyre marque can offer an added dimension to retailers’ 4×4 profiles. Nexen tyres are available through the Nexen Key Dealer Programme.  Retailers joining the scheme have access to a personalised reward scheme, preferential purchasing prices and in-store support in the form of leaflets, posters and lifetime guarantees on products.

Stapleton’s has a combined stock of over 1,000,000 tyres, including those specific to 4×4 vehicles, throughout its seven distribution centres in Letchworth, Birmingham, Bristol, Guildford, Wakefield, Warrington and Coatbridge.
