Kumho tyres shod winner of GMF Motor Factors Wydean Forest Rally

Date: 22nd February 2011 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Four of the top ten finishers at the GMF Motor Factors Wydean Forest Rally on 12 February were shod with Kumho R800 gravel rally tyres, the Korean manufacturer reports. They included the Peugeot Cosworth of Andy Burton and Robin Kellard, which took the top podium spot, and the Mitsubishi Evo IX of David Wright and Michael Wilkinson that was fourth overall and first in class B13.

Kumho’s European motorsport manager, Steve Thompson said: “It is great to see the Kumho-shod cars achieving such a dominant start to the eight-round Silverstone Tyres BTRDA Rally Championship. Our gravel tyres our clearly working well and I hope it means we can look forward to another very successful season.”

The victory was Burton’s sixth in the rally – a new record – though he will not be able to repeat the feat in his Peugeot next year as a change in rules will outlaw it. Somewhat unusually, the rally ran in dry, sunny conditions – a blessing for the organisers and their capacity, 180-strong entry.
