New Apollo Factory to Produce Vredestein Brand Tyres

Date: 17th August 2009 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

The factory Apollo Tyres is building in India’s Chennai state will most likely produce Vredestein branded passenger car tyres. According to the Hindu Business Line, production of premium Vredestein tyres at the soon to be completed Oragadam plant will be supplemented by Apollo branded UHP tyres. These will be marketed in Europe from next January onwards.

“Part of the Chennai factory’s production will be marketed in Europe,” Apollo Tyres managing director Neeraj R S Kanwar told the Hindu Business Line. He also pointed out that while the European replacement market is in relatively better shape than that in the US, the company would now focus upon consolidation rather than additional acquisitions. In further European news, the Business Line reported that Apollo is currently negotiating with Volkswagen over OE supply for the Polo in the region. Apollo already supplies tyres for Indian market Polo models.
