Profitable Vibration Problems Overlooked

Date: 26th June 2007 Author: Admin Comments: 0

Vibration problems are one of the most difficult problems to solve and because of this, they often gets the ‘head in the sand’ treatment. The NTDA has recognised this and has highlighted the vibration issue in their recent Service Bulletin 06/07 (copies are available from the NTDA offices)

In the past, to solve a vibration problem that balancing alone does not fix, it has been done through a process of elimination/ trial and error. This can be very time consuming and more often than not a vibration problem still persists.

Pro-Align suggest that the Hunter Road Force Balancer puts an end to guess work and can not only save you time and money, but can also provide an additional profitable service for your business.

Pro-Align’s Hunter Road Force Balancer is the only balancer available to the aftermarket that is capable of measuring Radial Force Variation (RFV) and Lateral Force Measurement (LFM).

It uses a ‘roller’ which lowers onto the wheel assembly during the spin, to reproduce the load forces gained when driving on the road. For RFV it then detects variations in tyre stiffness in the tyre wall and any out of round errors in the wheel rim. For excessive RFV the Road Force Balancer then recommends the best position of the tyre on the wheel rim (Force Matching), to give the smoothest possible ride. The second measurement taken, and just as significant, is LFM. Here the unit assesses the net pull or drift by measuring a number of wheel/tyre assemblies. Problems where found, are then solved by Hunters software proposing a best wheel arrangement plan for the car.

There is no more need to shy away from the word vibration; it could certainly be turned into a service revenue generator. Fitted with the revolutionary Hunter SmartWeight balance programme, it can also save up to 35 per cent on your wheel weight.
