Goodyear Promotion an Award Finalist

Date: 29th January 2007 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Goodyear’s “name-the-blimp” contest is in the running to receive a US public relations award. The trade industry publication PRWeek has named Goodyear’s “Hello My Name Is… The Launch of a New Goodyear Blimp” contest one of five finalists in the category of Promotional Event of the Year. The winner will be announced on March 8 in New York City.

Goodyear launched a nationwide contest last year, with the first prize being free use of the Goodyear Blimp for a day. A name submitted by High school chemistry teacher Matthew Harrelson – Spirit of Innovation – was the moniker ultimately chosen by the tyremaker.

The new blimp, which was built at the Goodyear facility in Wingfoot Lake, is based in Florida.
