And finally…..High Tech?

Date: 30th January 2007 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

No, it’s not a new type of run-flat technology. A Texas man has found himself in prison after his customised tyre inners fell foul of the law. The man was stopped by police in Warren County, Kentucky after being previously observed weaving and driving too slowly while heading north on interstate 65.

After consent was given to search the man’s Chevrolet Suburban a sharp-nosed police dog named Rex was attracted to the vehicle’s tyres. When questioned the owner told officers that there was “grass” inside the tyres. Each tyre contained about 20 pounds of marijuana inside metal canisters welded to the wheel.

Police seized the Chevrolet and approximately US$136,000 worth of marijuana. As compensation for taking the man’s vehicle and deflating both his tyres and his plans, the officers arranged free accommodation for the man at the Warren Country Regional Jail.
