Former Goodyear Vice President Named New Myers CEO

Date: 3rd May 2005 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Following Stephen Myers’ decision to step down, John C Orr has been promoted to CEO of plastic, rubber products company Myers Industries in Akron, Ohio. According to reports the board did not waste any time in appointing Mr Orr, the company’s 54-year-old president and chief operating officer, as CEO.

Mr Orr joined Myers Industries in 2001, and was promoted to president and COO in 2003 with the goal that he eventually would become CEO. Prior to joining Myers Industries, Orr had spent 28 years at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co, most recently as vice president, manufacturing, of the Akron company’s North American tyre division.

“Orr has been an energetic, hands-on executive. That’s what the company thought was attractive about him,” company spokesman Max Barton said.
