Bridgestone Supports Suzuki Training Scheme

Date: 7th July 2004 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Bridgestone has become the first tyre manufacturer to actively support Suzuki’s apprentice technician training programme.

The company will deliver tyre training seminars throughout 2004 as part of the three-year Advanced Modern Apprenticeship scheme. The training will provide foundation knowledge in areas such as the functions of a tyre, tyre construction, tyre service information, design and manufacturing.

Steve Howat, technical training manager at Bridgestone UK, said: “The response from the technicians has been absolutely amazing. Most have commented on the lack of appreciation they had of the advanced technology and development resources required to produce the modern radial tyre. As most of the technicians are aged between 16 and 19 years old this is an excellent opportunity to provide a sound knowledge base in tyre technology at the beginning of their career in the automotive industry.”
