Kumho Tire boosting capacity at fire-damaged site, confirms new factory project

Kumho Tire has announced a significant labour-management agreement that outlines the phased reconstruction and relocation of production facilities in South Korea following a major fire at its Gwangju site in May. The agreement includes the immediate restoration of operations and capacity increase at Gwangju Plant 1 and the development of a new factory in nearby Hampyeong County. Kumho Tire aims to begin full operations at this new plant early in 2028.

Kumho Tire suspends production after major blaze at Gwangju, Korea plant

Kumho Tire is currently investigating the circumstances of the fire at its plant in Gwangju, South Korea. In a stock exchange statement, the company says it is working to minimise losses “through prompt accident recovery.” The fire that broke out on Saturday is reportedly now largely contained and is expected to be completely extinguished today.

Goodyear – Luxembourg tyre production restarted 2 days after fire

Tyre manufacture at the Goodyear plant in Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg is returning to normal, having resumed two days after a fire at the facility last Monday. The tyre maker also shares the good news that all 12 employees admitted to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation were discharged without need for further treatment.

Fire at Goodyear site in Luxembourg

After receiving notification at 2pm yesterday, emergency services from the Grand-Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps of Luxembourg (CGDIS) attended a fire at the Goodyear production site in Colmar-Berg. Firefighters went into action against a fire in two production machines, which by the time of their arrival had already spread to an adjacent filtering unit. Although quickly dealing with this second fire, firefighters worked until late afternoon to extinguish the blaze affecting the production lines. During the deployment, Goodyear’s own firefighting team supported CGDIS personnel.
