LKQ Academy launches virtual reality training for garages
19th August 2025LKQ Academy has unveiled what it calls “the aftermarket’s first virtual reality (VR) training programme, providing an immersive new alternative to e-learning to support garage staff to upskill in crucial disciplines without losing time to travel.” The programme, prototyped at Automechanika Birmingham, introduces a virtual world designed specifically for workshop learning, allowing technicians to engage with tools, vehicles, and procedures in a fully interactive environment. Initial VR courses will cover critical topics including high-voltage isolation on hybrid vehicles, ADAS calibration, four-wheel alignment, and electrical fundamentals.

Apollo Tyres names car dealership key account manager
19th August 2025Apollo Tyres Ltd has appointed Denis Virelli as a new key account manager for its car dealer channel and OEM business in Germany, effective immediately. According to the tyre manufacturer, Virelli brings “a wealth of automotive and tyre industry expertise”, having previously been responsible for sales at “another tyre company”. That company was Kumho where Virellil was regional sales manager based at the company’s Offenbach, Germany office. The 43-year-old has also held senior roles in the car rental industry focusing on sales and quality management.

Sailun Group Co., Ltd. will build a major tyre plant in Egypt. The company provides details of the project in documents submitted to the Shanghai Stock Exchange, confirming a total investment of US$291.48 million to give Sailun its first manufacturing facility on the African continent. Xie Xiaohong, President of Sailun Group, signed an agreement for the project on 13 August at a ceremony attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and other dignitaries.
