CasingManager app strengthens ContiLifeCycle offer

Continental has upgraded its casing management service with the introduction of the CasingManager app (CMA). This app enables retailers to register casings swiftly and facilitates the digital management of the collection process, rendering manual recording methods and incorrect entries obsolete. The app also automates the collection of casings by the designated service provider.
“With the new app for the European market, which we are launching in Germany as a pilot project, we are strengthening our ContiLifeCycle offering and retreading activities in the commercial vehicle segment,” says Rafael Martinez, Head of Fleet Solutions Deutschland. Part of the Fleet Solutions business area, ContiLifeCycle is Continental’s holistic approach to reusing tyres and extending their lifespan.
Rapid capture & automatic entry of tyre data
Previously, after scanning a casing’s barcode, retailers had to manually record tyre information. The new CasingManager app simplifies this process by allowing retailers to scan the tyre’s serial number, instantly transferring data such as the barcode number, size, and DOT number.
As soon as the first tyre’s barcode is scanned, the app assigns the next barcode in the sequence to the following casing. Once the service provider confirms collection, the app automatically generates a collection order. For subsequent tyres, only the serial number needs to be scanned.
Digital process management
The app consolidates all daily orders and sends them as a single combined order to the collection service provider. Upon confirmation of collection, the retailer receives an email notification. Additionally, the casing is added to the retailer’s ContiCasingAccount, allowing them to ‘pay in’ used casings from their truck customers and receive credit in return.
Benefits & added value
Continental’s new app enhances the prominence of retreading in the commercial vehicle segment by offering various benefits that streamline the casing management process. Tyre data is registered automatically and digitally from a photo of the serial number, eliminating the need for manual input and reducing data entry errors. The fully digitalised collection process will eventually enable direct collection from end users. The CasingManager app thus represents a new service offering for end users, which is expected to increase the acceptance of retreading. Furthermore, avoiding unnecessary transport journeys enhances sustainability.
“With the CasingManager app, we are adding another service to our ContiLifeCycle system,” says Jan-Ole van Lengen, Head of ContiLifeCycle. “We are simplifying the casing management process and reinforcing the retreading principle.”
Circular economy a pathway to sustainability
Continental’s ContiLifeCycle concept, encompassing fuel-saving and retreadable new tyres as well as comprehensive casing management, fosters a sustainable circular economy. The recovery and reuse of used tyres result in significant material savings, reducing costs per mile and operating expenses. Continental is thus contributing to a greener, more sustainable economy. As more companies set sustainability targets and adopt sustainable procurement methods, resource-efficient tyre purchasing can provide a competitive edge for transport companies. The new CasingManager app plays a crucial role in achieving these sustainability goals.
