Dynomec invest >£1 million developing new locking wheel nut removal tool

Two decades after the introduction of Dynomec’s patented locking wheel nut removal tool, 2024 saw the Wakefield-based company introduce a brand-new version in January. The company has also been working with the RAC in order to bring it to market.
The new version of Dynomec’s tool saw the team – which has made its name helping drivers and garages alike remove wheels when the locking nut is lost – go back to the drawing board. That meant a new design, new international patents and £1 million of investment in new CNC machines to make it here in the UK.

In order to put the tool through its paces, and as a way of further developing the new-for-2024 tool, Dynomec has been working with the RAC to trial the device. In practice that equates trials across 1500 patrols operating in a the widest possible range of conditions nationwide over a six-month period.
The Dynomec tool features a patented multi-function dual strike impact driver, which isolates linear driving forces independent of rotational forces with the same tool, “providing superior rigidity and energy transfer”, according to the company. In addition, kits offer multiple sizes of protective shroud, which suit small to large wheel recesses and reduces the risk of wheel damage, whist aiding centralization. Furthermore, Dynomec’s locking wheel nut remover features an “Easy Visual Indicator”. This high visibility green band situated on the impact driver is only visible when in rotation mode.

Dynomec also makes a universal spare wheel that has been deployed by both the AA and the RAC.
