Cooper launches A-rated Zeon CS8

Cooper Tire Europe has launched the Cooper Zeon CS8 – a high performance passenger car tyre, which ‘A’ grade wet grip and is also said to perform in terms of fuel efficiency and handling. Brand ambassador and Formula 1 driver, David Coulthard, evaluated the Cooper Zeon CS8 and provided feedback to Cooper’s product development team.

Replacing the highly successful Cooper Zeon CS6, the newly developed Cooper Zeon CS8 features a new tread pattern with large circumferential grooves that clear water quickly and sequenced tread blocks to reduce generated noise.

The CS8 also features Cooper’s innovative Wear Square, an exclusive visual indicator on the tyre that allows drivers to quickly and easily assess the remaining tread life. Built into the tread design, this features the outline of a square located at six points of reference around the inside and outside of the tyre tread. As the tyre wears, the Wear Square transitions among five stages, beginning with a full square on new tyres and transforming into an exclamation mark when it is time to replace the tyre. The Wear Square can also signal uneven tyre wear and possible wheel alignment issues.

In addition, the Zeon CS8 features 3D sipes, which have interlocking three dimensional points inside the sipe. The 3D sipes provide the same benefits of a traditional sipe, including helping the tyre warm up and providing enhanced wet grip, but limit the amount of flex in the tread block which helps control the amount of heat generation in the dry and keeps the tread block stable.

According to the company, the CS8’s tread compound uses new polymer technology and advanced mixing techniques to deliver excellent wet and dry grip while also reducing rolling resistance for great fuel efficiency.

“Cooper Tire is dedicated to continuous research and development, and this latest passenger car tyre in our range epitomises this philosophy,” said Derek Carruthers, sales and marketing director, Cooper Tire Europe. “Featuring our latest technologies, the CS8 is a tyre that not only delivers ‘A’ grade wet grip, but also great handling. It’s responsive to small driver inputs and keeps the car stable at all speeds.”
