Maine Industrial to Close Plant, Ganz Returning

Maine Industrial Tire LLC is restructuring its global business operations and welcoming an old friend back into the fold. The company says it will close its Gorham tyre plant in the US state of Maine, relocating that production to plants in Pennsylvania and China. The shift is expected to take six months, Maine Industrial said. The plant is being closed “in order to reduce both manufacturing costs and operating expenses,” the company added. “Not only will this result in a financially stronger company, by streamlining operations, Maine Industrial Tire will be able to provide customers with the same high quality, premium products at competitive prices.”

Separately, former GPX International Tire executive Neil Ganz sent notice that he has joined Maine Industrial Tire, and will work in OE and international development.  “The company needed time to process the transition (from the sale of GPX units to other tyre companies). Now it is the time for Maine Industrial Tire to expand and grow,” Ganz said. “I have been tasked with OEM development and international development. The company will follow the old Ganz focus: build innovative tyres for special markets that will drive down the ultimate end users cost per hour performance.”

Maine Industrial also said it is realigning its sales force, combining its now separate sales groups “to create a single point of contact for both conventional and specialty products.”
