Modern Tyre Becomes a ContiNetwork Partner

Date: 25th August 2005 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Continental has confirmed its plans to expand the ContiNetwork beyond mainland UK by appointing Modern Tyre Group as the ContiNetwork Partner responsible for the whole of Northern Ireland.

“This move facilitates ContiNetwork’s growth into Ireland and marks the first phase of complete coverage for Ireland,” said the company in response to the news. Modern Tyre Group will be joining a nationwide network of independent truck tyre dealers that provide local, regional and national fleets with tyre management services and rapid-response tyre breakdown assistance.

Backed by Continental, the network gives fleet operators access to more than 200 truck tyre service locations and a fleet of 500 plus mobile service vans, operating across mainland UK and Northern Ireland.

The membership will give Modern Tyre exclusive territories – covering the whole of Northern Ireland – to provide service to Conti’s national and regional truck fleet customers. The service provider will also be using its ContiNetwork Partner status to grow its own base of local fleet customers.

Rory Byrne, director of Modern Tyre Group commented: “We are thrilled to be part of the ContiNetwork and pleased that we will now be able to offer our haulage customers access to a UK-wide base of quality truck tyre service providers.”

Founded in 1967 and currently employing 170 employees at depots throughout Northern Ireland, Modern Tyre Group is privately owned and run by the Byrne family. With a fleet of over 30 breakdown vehicles, the company already provides good coverage in Northern Ireland. It offers a dedicated fleet maintenance service to all users, and can provide regular fleet inspections as well as a full tyre management programme, including detailed reports and corrective maintenance to ensure that operators’ tyre expenditure is kept to an absolute minimum.

Leon McMahon, channel development manager at Continental, said: “Modern’s move into the ContiNetwork marks an important phase in the network’s growth and development outside mainland UK. Modern is Northern Ireland’s premier truck tyre service provider and its commitment to service excellence is consistent with what fleet operators have come to expect from the ContiNetwork.”
