
NTDA appoints Yokohama UK managing director to executive council
The National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA) has appointed the managing director of Yokohama HPT, Marisa Hever-Smith, as a new executive council member. Hever-Smith will draw on 15 years’ tyre industry experience to increase the strength of the association and its members. Calling the appointment “a real honour,” Hever-Smith said her appointment would “continue and extend the close bond between Yokohama and the Association, which has been built up over many years of working together.”

Sailun further increasing all-steel tyre capacity in Cambodia
At a board meeting held yesterday, the directors of Sailun Group unanimously approved a further US$93.48 million investment in the company’s Cart Tire Co., Ltd. subsidiary in Cambodia. With this investment, which includes a construction investment of $61.18 million and working capital of $32.30 million, the facility in Svay Rieng will gain additional capacity to produce 1.65 million all-steel radial tyres annually.

Wanli Conghua plant achieves annual production of 30 million tyres
On 26 December 2024, Wanli’s plant in Conghua, Guangzhou, held a ceremony to roll off the 250 millionth tyre. At the same time, the tyre manufacturer said that the first part of its Conghua plant Phase III project has been put into production, which means that “the production capacity of semi-steel radial tyres will reach 30 million per year”.

New anniversary icon celebrates PCL inflation milestone
This coming May, the team at PCL in Sheffield will commemorate the 80th anniversary of a significant event. For on 6 May 1945 – just hours before Germany signed the surrender document that marked the end of World War 2 in Europe – the inflation specialist finalised the design for the original Vertex Tyre Inflator, a unit better known as the MK2.
