Unroadworthy vehicle penalties up 52% in 12 months; tyres the leading fault – RAC
13th August 2025Following a Freedom of Information (FOI) request to the DVLA, the RAC found that a total of 13,109 penalty point endorsements were given to drivers in 2024 for driving vehicles with defective brakes, tyres, steering or other problems. That’s a 52 per cent increase compared to the 2023 total of 8,614. The offence attracts three penalty points which stay on drivers’ licences for four years.

28-day trial: Prinx Chengshan operating again in Thailand
13th August 2025The Prinx Chengshan production facility in Thailand is back in operation. The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) has permitted the Prinx Chengshan Tire (Thailand) Co., Ltd. facility to start working again on 8 August 2025 as part of a 28-day trial production period for testing equipment for air quality sample collection. The trial period runs until 4 September.

In February we reported that Yokohama TWS North America intended to permanently close its Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA facility, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing made with the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce. That WARN notice cited 19 April as the closure date and stated that the move will affect 90 jobs.
