Specialist vs all-rounder – Auto Bild tests tyres for EVs
Manufacturers approach tyre suitability for electric vehicles from varying angles. While some believe that EVs require specialised fitments, a growing number promote their entire product ranges as equally suitable for electric, petrol and diesel vehicles. Examining both approaches, Auto Bild has tested five standard tyre models and three specialised EV tyres. It fitted these eight products to a Kia EV6 in size 235/55 R19.

First tyre at Double Coin’s Anhui factory expansion
The first tyre has rolled off the production line at the expansion project of Double Coin’s factory in Anhui, China. According to the tyre manufacturer, the tyres that rolled off the production line this time are products suitable for new energy vehicles in size 205/60 R16 92V. After the project reaches total production, the annual production capacity of the Double Coin Anhui factory will exceed 10 million units.

2024 marks 50 years of Bulldog and 20 years of Bridgestone partnership
The Bulldog operation was founded in 1974 as part of the Sleaford Tyre Company Group and first supplied retreads to Bridgestone in the mid-1990s, before Bridgestone purchased it outright in 2005. A significant part of Bulldog’s recent history is made up of an increasingly close collaboration with Bridgestone. To be more specific, the two companies started working together in 1992, when Bulldog began making test tyres for Bridgestone. By 1995, Bulldog had become a major Bridgestone retreading partner. 10 years later, the working relationship became closer still when Bridgestone bought Bulldog. And next year market the 20th anniversary of Bridgestone’s Bulldog ownership. In the intervening years, Bridgestone global bought leading pre-cure retreading franchise, Bandag. Meanwhile, in the UK, Bridgestone grew to a position of market leadership in the bus tyre segment around 2017.

On 15 April The Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. (YRC) broke ground for its new consumer/light truck tyre plant at the Alianza Industrial Park in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. The event was attended by state and local officials, as well as management from Yokohama companies, including YRC chairman and CEO Masataka Yamishi; Yokohama Corporation North America (YCNA) CEO Shinichi Takimoto; and Yokohama Tire Corporation (YTC) president and CEO Jeff Barna.
