Hankook has earned the FIA Three Star Environmental Accreditation from the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). The programme is designed to promote environmental management and sustainability in motorsports and the wider mobility sector. Motorsport suppliers are evaluated based on their environmental performance, energy consumption reduction, logistics efficiency improvements, waste management optimisation, and the implementation of carbon neutrality programmes. The Three Star accreditation represents the highest level of environmental and sustainability certification.

Pirelli wins 82nd Motocross World Championship title with Jorge Prado
Jorge Prado (RedBull GasGas Factory Racing) clinched the MXGP title in the final grand prix of the 2024 FIM Motocross World Championship. His GasGas MC 450F ran on the Pirelli Scorpion MX32, making it 82 motocross world titles for the Italian tyre brand. Pirelli says the 2024 season was “a record season” for its riders, winning 19 out of a total of 20 Grands Prix, with 18 pole positions plus 37 out of 40 heats won. The final championship standings saw an all-Pirelli podium; Prado was joined by Tim Gajser (team HRC), second, and Jeffrey Herlings (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) third.

Dunlop hails ‘record-breaking’ season ahead of Motocross of Nations challenge

‘Debut’ challenge for Pirelli Moto2, Moto3 tyres in Japan
Pirelli and the Motorcycle World Championship paddock visit the Motegi Mobility Resort, formerly known as Twin Ring Motegi, for the Japanese Grand Prix (4-6 October) in a rare novel challenge for the tyre supplier. While Pirelli has competed on some races in the domestic All Japan Road Race Championship, it has never raced with either the Moto2 and Moto3 classes or other major international competitions at the circuit, meaning it has little data to rely on. As a result, Pirelli has opted for the standard tyres from the Diablo Superbike range included in this years standard allocation, albeit in greater quantities for some compounds.

Hankook Returns as Tyre Supplier to Australia’s Bathurst 6 Hour
Next year, Hankook Tire & Technology will make a comeback as the official tyre supplier for the Bathurst 6 Hour race in Australia, replacing MRF Tyres, which has served in this capacity since 2019. Hankook Tire previously served as the tyre supplier for the inaugural race in 2016 and the two following years. As part of the new agreement, it will supply every competitor with Hankook Ventus R-Spec Medium compound tyres throughout next year’s event, which takes place from 18 to 20 April 2025.

Avon tyre production restarts with Nova Motorsport in Portugal
Nova Motorsport has produced the first Avon Motorsport ACB9 Formula Ford and Avon Traction Mileage tyre for classic Land Rovers at its new manufacturing facility in Portugal. Goodyear spending $25 million a year on NASCAR
At the end of 2022, Goodyear extended its supplier/sponsorship contract for US motorsport series NASCAR, but at that time did not provide any further details on the duration of the agreement concluded with the eponymous National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. A new GlobalData report on this motorsport competition, titled The Business of NASCAR 2024, indicates that the tyre maker’s NASCAR commitment extends from 2023 to 2027. Whats more, the data analysis specialist states that Goodyear’s NASCAR sponsorship will cost the company US$25 million a year during this period.

Bridgestone has supported two of the most forward-thinking teams in the automotive industry at Goodwood Festival of Speed. Durham University navigated its 5kWh three-wheeled asymmetrical catamaran up the 1.16m track, becoming the first fully solar powered car to ever complete the route. Soft September – Pirelli confirms Formula 1 compounds for Monza, Baku and Singapore
Pirelli will bring its three softest compound Formula 1 P Zero tyres to the grands prix scheduled for September; Italy (1 September). Azerbaijan (15 September), and Singapore (22 September). The C3 will be the P Zero White hard, the C4 P Zero Yellow medium and C5 P Zero Red soft. These tyres are the same as those supplied in 2023.

Pirelli details Scorpion rally tyre allocation for Rally Finland – ‘fastest rally in the world’
Pirelli has announced its tyre allocations for the ninth round of the World Rally Championship season, Rally Finland. In Finland, the prime is the new-generation soft compound Scorpion KX WRC SB, featuring a revised construction that ensures greater durability and resistance compared to its predecessor, while delivering the same level of performance. The option tyre is the hard compound Scorpion KX WRC HB, suitable for more abrasive surfaces and longer stages. Crews can use 28 of the prime and eight of the option tyres. The number of options can be increased to 12, which reduces the number of primes by four.
