Sales of plug-in vehicles increase in 2015
A Press Association article, quoted on the RAC website, reports that new figures show that motorists bought more plug-in vehicles last year than they did in the preceding five years combined. New plug-ins on Britains roads numbered 28,188 last year, according to the government and car industry-backed Go Ultra Low campaign.

The NMDA Autumn 2015 Dealer Attitude Survey, published 2 November 2015, shows that the all dealer average when asked about the overall value of the franchise remained stable at 6.6 since the last survey in spring 2015. Harley Davidson, KTM and Kawasaki were recorded as the top 3 franchises, while the BMW, Honda and Piaggio Group were least valued.

Commenting on the September figures for motorcycle registrations, released by the Motorcycle Industry Association, Stephen Latham, head of the National Motorcycle Dealers Association (NMDA) which represents motorcycle retailers across the UK, said: “Motorcycle registrations continued to increase with a year-to-date growth of 12.3 per cent, however it was disappointing to see that September sales were only up by 7.2 per cent following the 65-plate change.”

Demand for commercial vehicles has increased in August, with overall new registrations rising 15.3 per cent, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders states. In the year to date, demand has risen 19.0 per cent to 255,849 units, with truck demand in particular rising (38.3 per cent up to 49,890 in 2015). Growth in August for the truck sector saw registrations up 20.2 per cent.

The National Motorcycle Dealers Association (NMDA) has reported continued growth in the UK two-wheel market, reporting a 14 per cent increase in sales in July according to Motor Cycle Industry Association statistics. The cumulative growth of the motorcycle market remains in double digits for the year at 13.1 per cent. The trend was not uniform, with lower powered machines declining in popularity as new riders plumped for more robust bikes.

Sue Robinson, the association’s director, said she is “encouraged by the continued growth”, commenting on figures published by ACEA.
